I’m working on a general recruiting round-up snapshot as I go through all the interviews I still am working to get up.

I mentioned in the Rivals Camp thread that three-star tight end Vander Ploog is looking to come for an unofficial early this week. He’s extremely interested in UCLA and even already knows it’s a place he wants to add to his list of officials.

An early excerpt of what will go up later today:

Ploog has official visits lined up to Arizona State (May 31), Utah (June 14) and California (June 20). Washington, which offered last Wednesday, will also get an official sometime after Cal.

While the rule limiting official visits has been lifted, Ploog said he wants to “keep it pretty small and lock into schools I really see myself at.”

“So that’s why I’m really big on UCLA and I’m trying to lock in a visit there,” Ploog said.

B10 Talk

So, I gotta say, at least on the podcast front, B10legacy podcasters are eating the shorts of P12 legacy podcasters that cover Oregon, W, SC, and UCLA. These peeps need to expand and grow their quality and coverage instead of getting subsumed. the average P12 podcaster still operates out of their apartment bedroom while the B10 guys all seem to have joined serious networks or have upped their production games. BUT, the B10 podcasters literally know ZERO about the P12. On the board front, what's the best place to go to push back on B10 storylines? Rivals only? or other good avenues?

Kyle Ford opens up about lone season at UCLA

Over on the USC site, Ryan Young caught up with Kyle Ford and his father, Dan, to reflect on his lone season at UCLA and the frustrations of watching the offense never consistently involving its biggest targets.

"We were assured some things over at UCLA, and I guess with the quarterback situation over there and the line situation and just Chip [Kelly] being who he is, it didn't work out," Dan Ford said. "It was early in the season, man. We kind of figured it out early in the season when [quarterback Ethan] Garbers was benched and Dante [Moore] was the starting quarterback, the line was limited -- about the third game is kind of when we started seeing ... it was just a trainwreck on offense. And then Kyle wasn't even utilized, neither was the other guy [J.Michael] Sturdivant, and we were just like, 'Dude, there is something totally wrong with this. What's going on?'"

"It was just every game continually being frustrated and not getting the results out of what you put in," Kyle Ford said. "I think it's hard to put in, put in, put in and not get anything back. Especially the caliber of player I know I am. ... Every game was frustrating. On the first drive of our year, I had two catches for 50 yards (39 yards, actually) and that's probably the most yards I had the rest of the season."
