STORY: Family of UCLA CB commit Chase Coleman impressed by hospitality, family atmosphere of official visit

Went with the perspective of Coleman’s father on this one:

UCLA is taking a swing

If it wasn’t already clear, UCLA is trying to show it’s done sitting back and waiting.

Chris Henry Jr., the top-ranked receiver in the country, top player in the state and No. 3 overall prospect in the 2026 class, picked up an offer from UCLA offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy after the college showcase at Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei.

Henry is currently committed to Ohio State.

College showcase: Notes from Gardena-Serra

Just got back from the Serra football showcase in Gardena where a handful of programs had coaches in attendance, including BYU, Fresno State, Kansas State, San Diego State, San Jose State and Utah, among others.

While UCLA had coaches elsewhere today, it is a school Eric Bieniemy has visited already. Three Serra players, in particular, have caught the eye of UCLA:

Serra had players in attendance at multiple UCLA spring football practices.

Williams, while the youngest, shined most of anyone as both a defensive back and receiver. He believes he has the ability to do both.

Here are some clips I got of the three:

This one could move quickly.

Illinois QB Colton Gumino was offered by UCLA after spending time in LA this weekend on campus.

"It was a incredible moment in my life," Gumino said. "My mom's family lives on top of the rose bowl and was a dream of mine since I was a kid to play for UCLA. I love watching film of Troy Aikman!"

Gumino said spent Friday and Saturday visiting campus and said the whole staff showed him so much love. He's also made a quick connection with the staff.

"Coach Foster is amazing and changing the program! He likes competition and I love to compete," Gumino said.

Now that the Bruins have offered him, I asked where the program fits into his recruitment.

They are definitely on top," Gumino said. "I really liked all the coaches and the facilities are amazing."

I'll get to see Gumino again this weekend when he takes part in the Rivals Camp in Indianapolis.

One of the best athletes of all time has left us

UCLA grad, immediately the best CB that had ever played the position, brother of Rafer.

He was the best 49er that ever played according to long time fans, including my dad and uncles, all of whom loved the 80s 49ers. They said he was Ronnie Lott as a young player but never really slowed down. Elite hands and feet for 15 seasons.
