Under Armour camp

A host of UCLA targets will be in Mission Viejo tomorrow and I’ll be there as well.

A lot of the same names who were at the Rivals camp, but an opportunity for me to catch up with the ones I did not have time to speak to including 2025 four-star QB Madden Iamaleava, who you might remember told Adam Gorney has UCLA in his top two.

So he will be one of the priorities for me tomorrow, including others who have future UCLA visits scheduled.

Jaden O’Neal is a four-star 2026 QB who just missed landing in the top 50 of the updated Rivals rankings.

UCLA didn’t go after many kids from City Section schools compared to those who competed in the Southern Section. O’Neal played at Newport Harbor before transferring earlier this month to Narbonne.

So this is another new approach under DeShaun Foster.

L.A. Times Q&A with DeShaun Foster

Ben got him 1-on-1 and while most of the answers were things he’s said in other settings, he did confirm that San Bernardino will not be an off-campus location for future camp after all but he is looking for one:

2026 CB Jayden Crowder

He was among the UCLA targets I wasn’t able to get to for a video interview before the end of the Rivals Camp more than a week ago.

But I reached him tonight and will have a story up in the morning. Among the wave of visitors they had that week, he probably gave some of the more detailed responses as far as how the conversations went and what they specifically were about.

He’s already putting UCLA at the top of his list when I asked him about schools pushing the hardest. Others include Cal, Washington and Miami.

So he’ll be another to watch closely as his recruitment unfolds.

UCLA announces football recruiting staff

UCLA officially announced Tuesday the addition of Butler Benton, Chris Carter and Stacey Ford in recruiting roles on the football staff.

Benton is the program’s general manager of recruiting and personnel, Carter is his assistant GM and Ford is the new director of player personnel.

One interesting note about Ford: He was an assistant and defensive coordinator at Downey (Calif.) Warren before he took a job on Washington State’s recruiting staff. Warren is home to 2025 QB Madden Iamaleava, who has UCLA in his top two.
