Recent visitor projected as UCLA lean

Below are some projections of recruits who were at the Rivals Camp and where they could land. UCLA was predicted for three-star 2025 Los Angeles-Loyola DE/LB Scott Taylor.

Here’s what Taylor had to say to me about UCLA and his visit to campus last week:

“The facilities are elite and the hospitality from the coaches brought such a special energy around the team and campus.

“At the end of the visit, Coach Malloe brought me upstairs and let me know that I got a full ride scholarship to UCLA. His vision for the player that I can be and the way he plans to use me in his defense was everything I wanted to hear.

“With the new staff on campus, the program is on the rise. There is a clear demand for excellence all around the team.

“Coach Foster is all about the winning mentality ... creating an environment where everyone competes and works to win. Our conversations were short but worthwhile, and I learned a lot about his priorities and goals for the program in the new future.

“I had a little contact with the staff before Coach Kelly left, but since Coach Foster took over, I have felt like a priority for them in their ‘25 class.

“They see me playing behind the ball, an east to west attacking linebacker. Also, they love my position flexibility and my ability to rush the passer as well. I always work on first step quickness and aggressive explosiveness.”

Update on football items

Because UCLA did not finalize and announce the rest of the coaching staff as of yet, the idea sometime this week will be for DeShaun Foster to have a Zoom media teleconference and for the assistants to be made available in spring camp.

Their busy past few days, as you can see, made the original tentative idea a little more difficult to coordinate.

The plan for Thursday is they are only doing basic install so they are holding off on a true opening of spring camp with media availability. So they will be on the practice field, but it doesn’t look like that will be an actual full-fledged practice.

Friday is still the plan for NFL Pro Day.

More on Chip

Not to be a broken record but did I read it correctly that in JANUARY (when he obviously knew he was leaving)
Chip 'promoted' OL Coach Tim Drevno to RB Coordinator and gave him a 2-year deal at a $1.1MM buyout? What the hell?
Favors for his buddies at UCLA's expense? Could that have done anything else but fry DeShaun Foster's circuits so
he promptly left. IMO Martin 'King of the Selfies' Jarmond should be court-martialed for allowing stuff like this.

Latest football recruiting round-up

There are still interviews with others I’m sifting through and will be uploading this week.

Here’s a first installment of some of the highlights from my conversations, including where UCLA stands and their thoughts on some of the still-to-be-announced coaching hires:

He will be owed $1.21 million, the full value of his new two-year contract he signed before being relieved of his duties without cause.

According to the contract, “University shall pay to Coach the base salary and talent fee for the remainder of the Contract” for termination without cause.
