UCLA showing interest in local 2025 QB

UCLA and new quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler stopped by Long Beach (Calif.) Jordan today to check out 2025 dual-threat QB Jarret Nielsen.

Nielsen also is a shortstop drawing interest from MLB scouts.

Nielsen also visited Westwood back in December.

This is what Jordan coach Jon Nielsen, his father, told me moments ago about the interest from the Bruins:

“I would consider them serious now. UCLA slow plays offers. But QB coach is recruiting JJ as an offer QB. Puts Arizona, Oregon State (Gundy) and UCLA all in the mix.”

After checking in with Oak Hills offensive line coach Nick Monica, he told me this morning that Tim Drevno and UCLA were checking in yesterday about 2024 offensive tackle Paki Finau, who initially graduated in December and signed with Washington before entering the transfer portal Tuesday because of the coaching change.

Another player the Bruins are targeting is 2025 three-star RB Karson Cox.

Oak Hills assistant O-line coach Rich Mitsuda told me DeShaun Foster stopped by during the season to check in on Cox.

“Now that USC offered Karson, maybe DeShaun will come back,” he said.
