Linebacker heavy stuff tonight:
-A few days ago, our Auburn site broke the news that four-star LB Will Ignont was down to two: UCLA and Auburn. We've had a couple talks with Ignont this summer, and each time we came away with the feel that while he liked UCLA, it was going to be very hard for him to leave home in Alabama. Yet a source told us this week that behind the scenes, Ignont has actually been in contact with Scott White daily, and has in fact given strong indications that he could sign with the Bruins in February. An official visit, while not scheduled yet, could seal that deal.
-For months, UCLA led for four-star LB Addison Gumbs. Gumbs, however, seemed hesitant to pull the trigger on a commitment, and a few weeks later, he landed on OU's commitment list. When we spoke to a source close to Gumbs this weekend, however, the source said this one is nowhere near over. "Nothing is close to being final on (Gumbs) going to OU," the source said. An additional source believes Gumbs was "squeezed" into making an OU pledge, as spots were filling up fast over there. Gumbs still has intentions of looking around, with a postseason visit to UCLA currently planned. If Jim Mora, and more importantly White, remain at UCLA past this season, the feeling is he could very well flip to UCLA before Signing Day.
-Four-star LB Rahyme Johnson was really the only serious notable 2017 visitor at UCLA's home opener last weekend, and by all accounts, it went well. He looks to be on track to be the first-ever Mora decommitment to recommit.
-UCLA is still in good shape for four-star safety Bubba Bolden, as Demetrice Martin has done a great job recruiting him. He told our Adam Gorney this weekend, though, that Ohio State will get a visit and having a few teammates currently committed there doesn't hurt.
