Ask any coach who he'd want as an ally to close on a recruit, and I'm betting the No. 1 answer would universally be the same.
Brevin Jordan plays for Las Vegas Gorman, and is, by consensus, one of the top TE's in the country. It also doesn't hurt that he's very close to a consensus top QB named Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Jordan recently had an unofficial visit to Westwood, and came away saying it always feels like home. Prior to making a commitment however, he wants to see some other schools, and is planning to visit Michigan. In the meantime there's someone in Nevada who wants him to skip right to a commitment.
So who is this mystery person? Non other than the person who invariably has the biggest I influence on a recruit's decision....Mom. A coach's biggest ally.
From MichiganLive: "At 6-3 and 240 pounds, Jordan is the No. 3 tight end and No. 79 player overall in the 2018 class. He visited UCLA with Thompson-Robinson last weekend and said it always feels like home. He also said his mom wants him to attend UCLA and even wanted him to commit on the spot."

Coincidentally in same story there's good news on the Dorian Thompson-Robinson front:
"I definitely told Coach Fisch I don't want anything to do with football - I've been there, I've seen it many of times and stuff like that, so I just want straight academics and that's what he showed me," Thompson-Robinson, who wants to study dentistry, said of his visit to UCLA. "They really blew me away with their academic side and all the stuff. My mom had millions of questions and they answered every single one of them, so that was really cool. Now it's just working everything out, going to see other schools and see what they have to offer, just to compete with them."
It appears the biggest threat to UCLA for Thompson-Robinson is Michigan, and Dorian's mom is a Michigan graduate who's currently a professor at UNLV. If she was anywhere near as impressed with UCLA academics as her son, that's huge.
