Through day 5 here are some additional notes I can provide for your reading pleasure:
-Christian Garcia has been running with the two's as reported by Ed since the first day of camp. This has come as a surprise to many since he is not a scholarship player. He has the size and strength but might be better suited at guard. With Simon Goines not at camp and other players not developing as quickly as needed, offensive tackle is going to be a spot to watch.
-Zach Bateman was to come in and provide depth at offensive tackle for the Bruins but unfortunately he is easily overwhelmed with speed and gets run around on a regular basis. He is probably a right tackle only at best.
-Aniuu Taua has been practicing as the back up long snapper and looked comfortable. He hasn't looked bad on the defensive line either, consistently demonstrating strength at the point and overwhelming with a violent punch. Due to his size he will never be a starter but is a fire hydrant of a defensive tackle.
-Aaron Sharp has been practicing as a kickoff returner and looked smooth doing it. His comments about the coaching staff saying they'll ask him to come back to quarterback if needed are nothing more than a pipe dream at this point but physically and athletically he will help this team offensively and on special teams.
-DeChaun Holiday looked initially to be too large and stiff to stick with receivers at this level and weighing over 215lbs meant he was far and away the biggest DB on the team let alone CB. Yet as the pads have come on, he's showing he has what it takes speed wise and demonstrating fluid hips.
