Nice to see Guerrero moving so quickly to strengthen his interviewing
range with the support of Aikman and others, and apparently to set up
an interview with Chip Kelly.
Kelly, 53, is an obvious consideration, but he has not succeeded in a couple of tries
after his Oregon successes. I am concerned about his 'been there, done that' abrasiveness.
Hopefully UCLA digs deeper and looks at some younger guys who have
both undeniable skills and recruiting chops. There are plenty of candidates, and I hope they
set up an interview with Matt Campbell the HC at Iowa State. He's only 37 and has taken
two impossible teams to top 20 ratings. He is a son of a coach, a former All-American player,
spurned Urban Meyer for an assistant role, and he has Iowa State still in the running for a Big-12 Championship.
To listen to him, he sounds like a young Chris Peterson. Not sure about his fit
for the West Coast, but this guy is marked for greatness somewhere.
