UCLA has decided it's time to get involved with one of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 class. Pierce Clarkson plays at nearby St. John Bosco, and tonight the Bruins have officially offered the four-star prospect. Clarkson is currently committed to Louisville and has been since January, but he now has a couple current teammates committed to the Bruins with RJ Jones and Ty Lee both headed to Westwood next year. Clarkson, whose father Steve is a major QB guru and has strong ties to adidas, has been leading the charge for Louisville with recruits from Southern California. Five of Louisville's current 15 commits are from SoCal, which includes three of its four highest-rated commits. Four of those California commits play at St. John Bosco.
So, it will not be an easy flip for the Bruins to make happen, but UCLA getting involved this late means the staff believes it has a shot. He is a strong runner in addition to what he can do with his arm, and seeing the success DTR has had under Chip Kelly has to be intriguing to someone like Clarkson. He'll be someone to track moving forward, but this is a strong offer for the Bruins.
