Most people know former Bruin star and all around class guy, was elevated to the head job when Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornecek was fired. What you probably don't know is he lent his name (and no doubt donated money) to a Southern California basketball program known as the Earl Watson Elite.
I had the fortune to spend some time with Earl and will never forgot what a truly humble, and even more truly focused person he is. The fact he was only 6''1" with a slight frame yet played in the NBA for 14 seasons is a testament to never giving an inch and fighting for every second.
If there's even a chance his example rubs off on any of the young men who play in the program named for him they're going to be more successful no matter where they end up.
Here's a link to the Watson Elite web site for you to check out. They don't currently have anyone heavily pursued by the Bruin staff, but that wasn't the case last year and will change again in the future.
