I am familiar with the bias against JUCO recruiting. But, I think the enthusiastic departure of juniors represents a paradigm shift across the college landscape. Many players express the attitude that they are fed up with playing for free. But what about all those seniors who rarely play at all yet participate 4-5 years for the old fashioned love of the game and school. It is time to find kids who did not peak in high school, matured 1-2 years, played the game for 2 more years because they loved it, lost fat, got serious about learning, left their childish distractions and matured their character. They would love the opportunity to play at UCLA, get a degree, get the prestige. They would not be endlessly looking for the draft advantage. It spares the coaches 2 years of project work. Time for serious dialogue about older, later blooming kids who might more appreciate the last 3 years of playing college ball instead of the first three. I would hope the coaches re-think this approach and not leave it for the Kansas States who presumably cannot compete for the high school super stars.
