UCLA held its final camp of the camp season today. It's annually their biggest one, but with all the satellite and regional camps out there these days, it's been watered down, and today wasn't much different. There were some big names, though. Here were some of the notes (I'll have a bigger breakdown later this weekend):
-Four-star ATH Devon Williams took a long visit to UCLA and then participated in the camp. I've seen him look better, because he was playing mostly DB today, but he's still a top 100 guy in my book. He seems to really like UCLA, but he's miles away from a decision and will take plenty of visits.
-My favorite player in the camp today was 2019 ATH Jordan Patterson. The Arcadia athlete looked as good as any 2018 DB/WR out there today and he landed a UCLA offer after camp. He told me UCLA was his dream school, and it sure sounds like a commitment will come if his mom lets him make the pledge.
-2019 commit Chris Steele was in attendance. He looked solid as usual at corner, rarely getting beat. He spent a lot of time with coaches and Jim Mora today.
-2019 S/LB Jonathan Perkins also showed some good football instincts out there today and he appears to be a strong UCLA lean as well. Once he cleans up his body, he could be a Jayon Brown type.
-2018 WR Devon Cooley was out there today and looked solid as usual. He confirmed that UCLA remains his No. 1 school.
-Three-star DB Chigozie Anusiem, who picked up a UCLA offer earlier this month, looked good at corner.
-Stephan Blaylock showed up, but didn't participate. He said his commitment remains a locked-in one.
-Four-star DB Bryan Addison was probably my MVP of camp today. He had three interceptions that I saw and looks like he could be a legitimate cornerback or free safety at the next level. He told me he was going to commit to UCLA when he set that commitment date a few weeks ago, but decided to hold off. It sounds like UCLA still leads, however.
-A few other guys picked up offers after the camp today: 2020 DB Elias Ricks, 2019 DB Titus Toler, 2021 quarterback Tyler Buchner and 2019 WR Colby Bowman.
