Chip Kelly and Dan Guerrero spoke for about 30 minutes during their introductory press conferences. They spoke for another 30 or so in breakout scrums afterward. Here were the notables:

-We didn't get a whole lot of clarity on how UCLA will recruit this December with essentially two coaching staffs. Kelly, though, said basically they're allowed to have 10 coaches out on the trail at a time. It sounds like he'll pick the 10 and anybody he doesn't pick that's currently on staff still coaching just won't recruit. At least that's the way I interpreted his answer.

-Kelly declined to go into detail on how he'll handle UCLA's current commitments, making a joke that he "didn't want to get in trouble" for talking recruiting with media.

-Kelly said he talked briefly with Josh Rosen today, and regarding his future, he said basically what every coach says when asked about a player leaving early to the NFL: They'll gather all information possible and help Rosen make the best decision for him.

-Guerrero said there were two factors that went into firing Jim Mora before season's end: 1) The opportunity to get to Kelly before other schools did, and 2) The early signing period and having a coach in place with enough time left on the clock to still recruit.

-Guerrero confirmed he, Josh Rehbolz and chancellor Gene Block met with Kelly last Monday for "an extended period of time." Guerrero said they knew Kelly "was going to be our coach" on Friday before the game against Cal.

-Guerrero said Under Armour money, TV deals, donors and the "expected spikes" in season ticket sales will help pay for Mora's $12 million buyout.

-Guerrero said UCLA "talked to no other candidates" other than Kelly for the vacancy.

-Troy Aikman on Kelly: "I think it's the greatest hire in UCLA history."
