Tyler Bilodeau
HOW HARD WAS IT TO SIT AND WATCH IT UNRAVEL?
“Yeah, it’s tough. I’ve got to be smarter–can’t reach in on those or take silly fouls because it hurts the team, so that’s on me.”
HAD DONE SO WELL LEADING UP TO THAT, DID THAT MAKE IT HARDER TO WATCH GIVEN IF YOU WERE IN THE GAME THINGS WERE GOING ANOTHER WAY?
“Yeah, it’s always frustrating because I want to be in the game and help my teammates out.”
DID SITTING TAKE YOU OUT OF RHYTHM WHEN YOU CAME BACK IN?
“Um, no, I felt pretty locked in the whole game.”
MISSED FREE THROWS, TURNOVERS AND FOULS WERE THE BIG CULPRITS?
“Yeah, there were a lot of factors that go into it but missed free throws, definitely, and that’s on me. I can’t miss four free throws down the stretch there. It was a big part and then turnovers, too. We’ve got to be better at taking care of the ball.”

SAME QUESTION, WAS IT MISSED FREE THROWS, TURNOVERS AND FOULS?
“You’re asking rhetorical questions. You miss eight free throws in the second half — two of those [the front end of one and ones], I know both of Skyy’s, I don’t know about Tyler’s but we definitely missed the bonus on seven and eight, so eight missed free throws is really 10. So, I’m not sure if we missed another bonus — I know we missed two. So we had at least 10 missed opportunities at the foul line in the second half of the game, so hard to win when, two things, when your point guard play is minus-14 and turn it over late in the game and he’s minus-14 and you miss eight free throws in the second half — two of those front end of the bonus from your other point guard. Hard to win. Hard to win.
WHEN TYLER WENT OUT …
“Tyler played great, obviously I’m not going to comment on officiating. Him going out changed the game. If he doesn’t go out–if they call that a charge or a no call, we’re obviously having a different press conference.”
WHEN HE WENT OUT, DID YOU HAVE AN IDEA WHEN YOU WOULD BRING HIM BACK IN?
“I tried to get it under five — especially the way the game was being called. The way the game was being called, you know…”
ERIC DAILEY ONLY PLAYED 12 SECONDS IN SECOND HALF?
“Took a shot to the face in the first half.”
DO YOU SEE A SILVER LINING—
““No, zero. There’s no silver linings in losses, none. Gotta make free throws, your point guard’s gotta take care of the ball at the end of the game. That’s what real teams do. If that happened to Trent Perry, I’d understand, he’s a freshman. So, you got veteran guys out there, you gotta make free throws, you gotta take care of the ball at the end of the game. Then, also, on the last play, you got a trap going on with Dylan and the game two guys against RJ and they fouled him. Now, I haven’t seen the clip, but I know it was called. What are we doing fouling the guy? Make him pass it to No. 3, who’s got two made baskets on the game. Instead, we go over and foul him. Skyy fouls out. You don’t foul with the game on the line. My teams don’t do stuff like that. So, I’m still fighting to get this group — it was the same thing last year — to where we were a couple years ago. It’s hard to find guys as smart as Tyger and Dave Singleton, Tyger Campbell.”
THEY WENT TO A FOUR-GUARD LINEUP IN THE SECOND HALF, YOU WEREN’T ABLE TO FORCE AS MANY TURNOVERS—
“Let me just say this to you: The only thing that mattered in the second-half adjustment was Tyler Bilodeau’s fourth foul. Their lineup was not a problem. The problem was Tyler Bilodeau wasn’t in the game.”
DID YOU CONSIDER—
“We played four guards the whole second half, my friends. I don’t know if you know that. We played four guards the whole second half.”
JUST REALIZED YOU WERE OUT-REBOUNDED IN THE GAME—
“Three out of the last four, Oregon, Arizona, North Carolina. It's hard to play big against them. I'd like to play a bigger lineup. But, again, Eric Dailey took a shot to the face. He wasn't himself. He didn't play well early, yeah, and he took a shot to the face, and I could tell he wasn't the same. He passed whatever test there is and all of that. So we're playing small but I mean, look, I don't think that was a difference in the game. You miss eight free throws in the second half, and Tyler Bilodeau sits half the second half. That's the problem, and then we still got the lead and turn it over after a timeout with a veteran point guard like he didn't know the guy was going to reach in. You got to deserve to win, guys. They're down 16 every game. So it ain't like they aren't used to it. I've never seen anything like it and I told the guys. I mean it’s not like we didn't tell them. They’re just going to keep coming, they're going to play faster, they're going to go small, they're going to drive the ball, try to draw fouls. We didn't do a good job on fouling. Foul, and we fouled way too much, and you get what you deserve, guys.”
