UCLA lost a commitment from one of the nation’s top players in the class of 2019 when four-star defensive back Chris Steele backed off his pledge Tuesday. Steele had been committed to UCLA since January but has been very active on the visit trail, taking trips to Stanford, Alabama, USC and others in recent weeks. With new schools joining the mix and a desire to take more visits, Steele reopened his commitment and said he will continue to consider the Bruins going forward.

Rivals.com examines the impact of Steele’s decision on a local, regional and national level. Each participant will grade the impact on a scale of 1-10, with one being little impact and 10 being a catastrophic to the class.

LOCAL REACTION
“Obviously a tough blow because Steele is looking like he'll be an elite recruit in the 2019 class. But in the big picture of things, Steele is still very high on UCLA and his final decision will probably come down to UCLA, Stanford or USC regardless of this week's decommitment. So the Bruins will have plenty of chances to get him to re-commit over the next 18 or so months.” – Edward Lewis, BruinSportsReport.com

Sting Score: My grade would be like a 3 or a 4, just because it's not like he's never going to reconsider committing to UCLA.
