Events recently have shown the landscape for basketball recruiting has shifted. First we had star Ivan Rabb spurn Arizona, and accept a challenge from new coach Cuonzo Martin to rebuild the Cal brand. Then upcoming senior rim protector Ike Anigbogu also passed on Tucson, committing to the Bruins.

From there the crack in the damn really opened, as Sean Miller really wanted rising junior / super athlete Jalen Hill, but he also committed to the Bruins. Then disaster struck as Miller, already missing out on most of his first line big men targets, lost T.J. Leaf who de-committed.

Even the very friendly home town Tucson writers are grudgingly having to agree Miller is perimeter oriented, and plays a slow game giving the big men less touches.

Here's a link to Greg Hansen, a long time Arizona honk who's covered the Wildcats since well back in the Lute Olson reign. He points out how many big men in Tucson have underachieved, and is forced to stretch the truth offering an exception. Hansen calls Darrick Williams a PF, but he was really a combo who shot a lot of threes.
