Louisville has already seen two commits reopen their recruitment, and a third prized target eliminated the Cards. All three, and one in particular, may be relevant to UCLA.
5 star Anfernee Simons and 4 star Courtney Ramey have de-commited from Louisville, and both are PG's. Simons plays for IMG Academy in Florida and primarily looked at schools in the South and Southwest. Ramey is from Missouri, but wasn't considering the home school and had favorites from all over the country.
There's no indication UCLA had much push on either of the two previously. However one thing we can count on from the scandal, recruits are going to be looking at things much differently now, for at least this season.
The big name is Romeo Langford, the heir apparent to Kris Wiles for Indiana's Mr. Basketball. In fact he may he's not only a 5 star, he may be even better than Kris. It was widely thought Louisville was in the driver's seat for Langford, but he struck the Cards from his list entirely.
In this case UCLA has absolutely been in the picture. In fact they were on Langford while recruiting Wilkes, and it was thought the main reason Ed Schilling was wooed away from the Bruin and back to Indiana was based on Romeo.
It should also be mentioned Langford has been very open to programs far from home. In any case the Bruin staff never gave up and now Romeo is more or less wide open again.
Stay tuned, because recruiting is likely to get less clear for many recruits before things settle down. I.E. keep your eyes and ears on 4 star and USC verbal Taeshon Cherry from San Diego. He was heavily recruited by UCLA, and may be the next to bail.
