We talked about UCLA offering ex Oak Hill (now playing for Huntington Prep) center Kenneth Nwuba. Perhaps going for a parlay bet, the Bruin staff has also offered the current center for Oak Hill, David McCormack.

McCormack is a wide body true center at 6'10" and at least 260#. Belying his heft, David has a very light touch on his feet around the basket. You could say his best asset is a very impressive ability to spin, pirouette, drop step, or otherwise create a shot for himself down low.

That's important because while he's works very hard for rebounds and uses his body very effectively while doing so, he's not the sky walker / shot blocker type (a la Nwuba)

In short it's a good thing Nwuba went to Huntington Prep, so both recruits will have more on the court time to develop. Also UCLA is looking at two very different flavors of ice cream here. Personally I prefer the wonderful athleticism and major shot blocking Nwuba. Very Ike like, however also like Ike he's raw offensively.

McCormic probably has a lower ceiling, however he seems to be more ready to contribute now. He will at least bother people challengeing him to score inside, and could use his body and space eating ability to be a force on the defensive boards.

McCormic could also cause real matchup problems on the offensive end, but in return you give up the potential Nwuba brings to create a wall near the basket. It's a recruiting watchers' conundrum .... who do you prefer, and frankly UCLA couldn't go wrong either way.
