Here's a quick video I took during the opening ceremony for the Wasserman Center, keep your eyes peeled at you can catch a quick glimpse of Mora.
Some more notes about the building
-There are four total levels: a basement and then three above ground levels
-The basement has the locker rooms, hydrotherapy area, physical therapy areas, and barbershop
-first floor has the weight room at smoothie/snack bar
-second floor has a big balcony where I shot this video as well as meeting rooms, offices, lounges, and the big auditorium
-third floor has a private balcony just for the coaches, a kitchen/snack area just for the coaches, and additional offices, meeting rooms, and lounges
-The entire building is absolutely stunning, it really is absolutely gorgeous
-you cannot put into words how cool it is to have the garage door-like doors on the first floor so that the weight room opens up right onto the practice fields
-Ed was right when he said that the walls are more higher and more substantive.
-People on other boards have complained that it doesn't seem to have a lot of the bells and whistles that other facilities like the McKay center have, but I am almost positive that it is simply because they are not completely done with everything. The building is finished structurally, but it looked like most of the electronic stuff wasn't installed yet. Going through the lounges and offices, there were tons, and I mean TONS of hook-ups and spaces for computers and big-screen tvs, they just hadn't been installed yet. I really hope they do a full-walk through in a few months when everything has been put in so that we can see the place in its full glory.
-The view from that balcony was absolutely stunning. As you may have noticed, the Luskin Center is right across the way and there was some party or event going on on their terrace. The Luskin center looks amazing, but they definitely need to put up a screen.
-I don't know if they're gonna do a similar event for the Mo Ostin center, and if I would even be able to go to it if they have one, but if I can I'll definitely provide more video and stuff
-Also, UCLA did a great job with the event. Some of the cheerleaders and band were there, the food and drinks were fabulous, and they had 3 or 4 different bars set up throughout the building. Nothing like celebrating the opening of a new facility like throwing back several cocktails as you tour the new digs!
