Chula Vista-Mater Dei Catholic receiver Jerry McClure has been on the rise this spring and he was recently moved up to four-star status. He is a versatile player who has become a priority target for UCLA after finishing his junior season with nearly 100 yards receiving per game. McClure made the visit out to Westwood on Saturday as he continues to sort through his options. He is in the midst of a wave of visits having also been to Arizona and San Diego State in recent weeks. He'll visit Cal this weekend, but UCLA has done a good job of building a strong relationship with him through Jerry Neuheisel. The sense that I'm getting right now is that the Bruins will be part of this recruitment through the end and right now sit in a good position.

He is putting a high priority on academics, and UCLA certainly has appealed to him in that regard along with the football aspect.

Here's one quote from the story that you can read by hitting the link up top with McClure discussing his relationship with Neuheisel:

“If he was our age he’d be your best friend. He’s a person that gets to know you. He gets to know what you like and your dislikes, and he how he can incorporate that into your game play. As a coach, he’s hands on. He gets to know what you like and he tries to help you with that. If you need anything he’s there for you.”
