What if they worked something out where they were all essentially independents and played whoever made sense in terms of geography and skill level?
Sports like water polo and volleyball already do this and have a semi-conference under the MPSF that organizes the core of their schedule every year.
It makes no sense for golf, tennis, baseball, swimming, rowing, cross country, track, beach volleyball, etc to fly across the country for their meets/ games/ matches.
