UCLA's #1 ranked Bruins hung on for a 72-67 Elite Eight win over Kim (look at my outfit) Mulkey's #3 ranked LSU Tigers. UCLA's Gardiner and Jaquez were clutch from the 3 in the 2nd half especially in the 4th quarter. Nothing like having clutch players. The Bruins take on the winner of UConn/USC next Friday.

We need at least:
A wing, preferably a strong scorer who can guard bigger guys
A big
Another multiple position player

Depending on what players we get, we need another viable backup in addition to those 3.

We have at least two of the four in house in BW and Mara. Freeney could be the third if he’s willing to play limited minutes or play up a position if he’s added muscle. If we add those 3, we have starters at the 1,2,4,5 if Dailey will never be a true 3. In that case, either he or Bilo come off the bench and Bilo plays 13-15 minutes at both the 4 and 5 while Mara plays 25-27 at the 5 and Dailey plays 25-27 at the 4. BW becomes the emergency 4 and backup 3. We would need a starter at the 3.

If Dailey can play the 3, we need a starting quality big who can defend.

Can’t wait to see all the new coaches, especially Sunseri start to put their new roster together, and a brand new offense. . I’m excited for the Spring game….last season it was a gala fundraising event. Can they top it this year?

Unlike previous years, UCLA will no longer open the entirety of spring camp.

The program announced today that the April 5, April 18 (Friday Night Lights), April 26 and May 3 spring showcase at the Rose Bowl are the four practices open to the general public and media out of the 15 sessions.

3. What is Cronin’s offense? Does he ever explain what he’s trying to do other than stall?
4. Why does Mick give up when plan A doesn’t work?

“I threw for him last year and he offered me when he was on Indiana’s staff. I’ve known him since last spring. He’s a winner. He’s played QB so that’s big. My coach at LaSalle played QB and was hired last January; the previous coach was a defensive guy. It can make a big difference.

“Coach Sunseri can relate. QB is the most dependent position on the field. I have no doubt he’ll run a QB-friendly system and throw the ball around. I’m sure coach will be aggressive in the pass game while putting the QB in a position to have success. He said he wants to get a guy that can compete early for playing time. I can fit in any pass-first offense that wants to make the defense defend the entire field.

“He talked about my growth as a player. He said I was the first QB that he went to see and offered since joining UCLA. He wanted to make sure the distance wasn’t a factor. I’ve been to the UCLA campus with my 7-on-7 team Level 82. It’s a beautiful place. Definitely want to get out there again. That’s what we talked about and I told him I’ll get out there. Nothing set in stone, but definitely want to get out there.”
