We are at rock bottom for our men’s sports. Neither Cronin or Kelly compete without superior talent and a combination of laziness and a lack of support keeps them from getting more talent. Cronin has shown he is capable only when he has his junkyard dogs and his lack of focus on offense will prevent championships.

Some increased pregame activity from Berke Buyuktuncel (ankle). Since he’s still in sweats, wouldn’t expect him to be cleared to return tonight but it’s an encouraging sign nonetheless.

Jan Vide (ankle) still looks like he may be out.

A federal judge issued a 14-day temporary restraining order Wednesday against the NCAA, allowing college athletes who transfer a second time to be immediately eligible, the AP reported.

The next hearing on a preliminary injunction is scheduled for Dec. 27.

It is being reported the Dodgers have reached an agreement to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a 12-year contract worth $325 million which means they are on the hook for more than $1 billion for the two Japanese stars.

I’m checking in with the commits to get their thoughts about signing and will pass their thoughts along as they come in.

QB Karson Gordon

He told me he actually won’t be signing until the February window:

“I’ll be signing in the February window! And arriving in the summer. But…I’m locked in.

“It’s means everything to be able to sign to a school like this, the culture, athletics, academics, and pride this school carries is like no other! I’m honored to become a Bruin!”

Our DLine is very thin

UCLA should zag to SC's zig on QB recruiting. With SC pretty much just going for proven gun for hire QBs, UCLA could stand as a contrast and focus on
bringing in top HS kids or young transfers, purely for the recruiting edge that it could give us. Beyond taking a HS Sr this year, I'd take a long hard look at Nelson out of SC as well.
Garbers is our starter and Nelson and our other backups could compete for the spot next year.

We have to win the PAC-12 Tournament.
That’s it.
This team is not going to improve enough to finish among the top three which will probably be a battle between Arizona, Utah, Colorado and the Washington teams.
We will get better as the season unfolds but we are going to take too many hits along the way.
The difference between this year’s team and last year’s team can be summed in one word — Experience.
Last year’s team had it, this one doesn’t.
Mick is trying to put a jigsaw puzzle together and can’t seem to find the right pieces.
The two-bigs lineup is clearly not working offensively or defensively.
Adem Bona is trying to live up to Mick’s expectations and he’s clearly having trouble. He still fouls too much and his shooting is worse this year.
Aday Mara has a lot of offensive skills but he can’t establish himself down low and gets pushed around too much.
Our overall shooting is poor — short, long and in between. We are not the dunking team I thought we would be with our size and we have no go-to shooter when we need a bucket.
On the positive side, I think Mick will figure it out. I also think any of our players who think they will be ready for the NBA next year are going to have second thoughts and return next year and that’s when I think this roster will finally take flight.
I hope I’m wrong about the time frame but watching us play for 10 games, one third of the regular season without a single win against a good team, I’m not seeing it.

Just saw Aday Mara get his left ankle worked on by trainers before heading to the locker room as the rest of the team warms up with 50 mins until tip-off.
