How the No. 5 UCLA men’s basketball team is being fueled by a dog bone

Kind of surprised when Jaime Jaquez Jr. brought it up that it sounds like it was the first anyone had heard of it.

Mick Cronin seems to have always been big on deflections based on everything I’ve picked up on less than a full season into covering the team, so this being a fresh angle about the team kind of caught me off guard considering how long some of the others had been on the beat:

PWO offer to RB

RB Delon Thompson of St. Bonaventure, the state’s third-leading rusher, is a physical back at 5-foot-9 and 196 pounds. Watched his team play Inglewood in August and he ran for 200+ yards and 3 TDs. He’s a workhorse.

He’s widely considered one of the top uncommitted RBs in the area. Thompson is from the same program that produced Florida State star and former NFL running back Lorenzo Booker, who mentors Thompson.

Top-40 2024 recruit and Henderson (Nev.) Liberty point guard Dedan Thomas Jr. is on currently on campus at UCLA for his official visit with the Bruins. I caught up with the four-star prospect ahead of the trip to discuss his relationship with Mick Cronin, his thoughts on the program and more. You can read the update at the link up top, but the Bruins are certainly trying to make a push for arguably the West's top point guard recruit.

"I really like the school, the coaching staff. I know Mick Cronin. I can learn a lot from him. They have a great coaching staff. I've built a great relationship with their coaches, and their play style really fits me."

Peter Bario, who attends Campbell Hall in North Hollywood, was offered a preferred walk-on spot yesterday.

At the Rivals combine in Los Angeles last year, he measured in at 6-3 and 239 pounds with a 5.08 40-yard dash:
