Beer and wine will be available for purchase at UCLA Football games at the Rose Bowl for the 2021 season, the UCLA Athletics Department announced today.

"We heard the fans loud and clear that this will enhance the gameday experience, which is always a priority," the Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond said. “We’re excited to offer this expanded service and will implement mechanisms to promote responsible drinking so that the Rose Bowl will remain a safe and family-friendly environment for all fans.”

Among the options for fans aged 21 and over include a variety of imported and domestic beers, as well as red and white wine. These items will be available for purchase at select concessions locations within the Rose Bowl, and an additional point of sale locations have been added for fans throughout the stadium. Wooden Athletic Fund members at specific giving levels still qualify for exclusive access to either the WAF Lounge on the east side or the Justin Wine Garden on the west side. Exclusive access to the TCL Club is also now available for $300 for all seven home games. These exclusive spaces will continue to offer premium concessions for purchase and a full cash bar.

Together UCLA, UCLA Athletics, the City of Pasadena, and the Rose Bowl Operating Company are committed to promoting responsible drinking during UCLA Football games at the Rose Bowl Stadium. There will be a two alcoholic beverage purchase limit, per transaction, per valid identification. Beer and wine service will be discontinued at the end of the third quarter, and security measures will be in place to ensure that all guests must be 21 years of age or older in order to purchase or consume beer or wine.

Rose Bowl Stadium staff and security personnel involved in the sale of alcohol will be required to participate in Responsible Alcohol Service Training. A designated driver program will be implemented to promote responsible behavior, and fans are expected to abide by the Rose Bowl Stadium Code of Conduct at all times.

Beer and wine have been available for purchase in the Rose Bowl Stadium’s premium seating areas during previous seasons. UCLA joins the more than half of the FBS college football programs in offering expanded alcoholic-beverage service throughout its home football venue. UCLA and the Rose Bowl Operating Company are committed to regularly monitoring and evaluating the fan and game day experience.

"A special thank you goes to Chancellor Gene Block, our campus leadership, and officials from both the City of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Operating Committee, for their effort and support in building this comprehensive and responsible plan,” Jarmond added.

UCLA opens the season on Aug. 28 against Hawai’i and will host six other home games, against LSU (Sept. 4), Fresno State (Sept. 18), Arizona State (Oct. 2), Oregon (Oct. 23), Colorado (Nov. 13), and California (Nov. 27).
