I have been going back and forth: Is ASU a solid team but really unlucky, or, are they overrated from the start and this is who they really are?
Either way, they are at their lowest point in years right now...totally embarrassed and exposed...which could in theory be either the best or the worst time to play them!
From what I have seen in the TAMU and SC games, Arizona State has:
- Trouble at QB...Bercovici straight up looks BAD. And he looks like he's actually regressed from last season. He panicked against SC and threw bad balls off his back foot, or just missed open receivers.
- No replacement for Jaelen Strong. If they get down early, they don't have the explosiveness to come back.
- A couple playmakers and some bangers, but they aren't producing either. Foster is playing the wrong position, IMHO. Ballage looked better last year. Richard is okay.
- A defense that looked SLOW against both TAMU and SC. Adoree took a simple 5-yard out to the house. Steven Mitchell broke a couple long ones. Christian Kirk abused that secondary (well, he does that to everyone's secondary).
- Capable run stoppers up the middle. This might make it tough for our backs...But last year our OL dominated their DL, so who knows.
Thoughts?
