Hi all - I'm McKenna, filling in for Ed today at UCLA practice.
The Bruins practiced in front of about 400-500 fans today for Family Day/Fan Appreciation Day. Joe Bruin and the Yell Crew were there interacting with fans. There was an inflatable slide for the kids, a concession stand, and merchandise booth set up on the roof of Lot 8 as well. Season ticket holders were able to watch practice from patio level of the Luskin Center. Fun moment after practice when a few players were trying to throw t-shirts up to fans on the patio.
UCLA practiced in full pads, with refs present, for about two hours and 10 minutes, the shortest practice of camp so far. Offense was in blue today and defense wore white.
Notes from this afternoon...
Injuries:
- WR Theo Howard limped off the field with what initially looked liked a pretty bad left ankle/foot injury, he wasn't able to put any weight on it when he was limping to the sideline and his breathing was pretty labored as the trainer tended to him, but after about five minutes he was able to walk off the practice field under his own power with only a slight limp. He walked off the field with his left cleat off accompanied by a trainer.
- After practice coach Jim Mora said he saw WR Demetric Felton with his pads off, said he wasn't sure why, but he didn't sound very concerned by it.

Josh Rosen looked sharp again today, his third or fourth consecutive practice where he's looked really dialed in. Addressing reporters after practice Mora acknowledged it as well. "It feels like he's becoming more comfortable in the offense and more confident in what we're doing ... We just gotta keep pushing him and he'll keep pushing himself."
More from practice...
-Rosen launched a deep pass of his back foot and found Jordan Lasley for a 65-yard TD pass against the second team defense. Rosen made it look effortless.
-A good day for Bolu Olorunfunmi, he had a handful of nice runs and also caught a few passes out of the backfield, including one for about a 25-30 yard gain. Rosen and Bolu connected well today.
-Mossi Johnson was in with the second team defense and nearly intercepted Devon Modster, looked like he should've been able to haul in the ball, but couldn't quite hang on for the INT.
-The second team defense gave the offense a lot of trouble today, recording several sacks and TFLs, including one strip sack that led to a 40-yard TD return. Chigozie Nnoruka stripped the ball from Modster and Rick Wade recovered it and ran it back for the TD.
-Caleb Wilson bobbled and dropped a wide open pass from Rosen that would've led to an easy TD, but Rosen seemed to take responsibility as the ball was a little too high and he tapped his chest right after the play to indicate to Wilson that one was on him.
-Osa Odighizuwa had a couple would-be sacks today and Will Lockett had a few intuitive pass break ups, including one near interception.
Make sure to check out the video interviews with Coach Mora and Sunny Odogwu. Highly recommend watching the Odogwu interview, he was very candid and talked about his journey from Nigeria to America, decision to come to UCLA, and how much he's enjoying being here.
The Bruins have their first and only off day from camp tomorrow. They will be back on the field Monday afternoon at 3:15pm.
