Say what? Lonzo's changing from his long time number 2 to number 75???

Not gonna' happen, but the key for Lonzo's future may be the number 75. This is because Cleveland just blitzed the Celtics for a record 75 points in the first half. That included a mind numbing 43 Cavalier points in the first quarter, on the Boston floor !

Lonzo Ball is the ultimate play maker, but the Celtics probably already have the the 1st or 2nd best passing team in the Eastern conference. Their competition for the top passing spot? A team named the Cavaliers.

For the Celts to reach the Finals next year, passing is not an issue. They need more fire power to compete with Cleveland's offensive juggernaut. They'd also need more scoring to match the Warriors incredibly potent offense.

Yes, Lonzo elevated the scoring totals in Westwood....exponentially. However the Bruins were a squad of outside shooters without a lead guard, and no scoring from either forward position. Enter Lo to feed the shooters with T.J. scoring inside / outside, and a 15 - 17 record changes to a 31-5 record.

Lonzo can be a good defender, but he's never going to be put on Lebron and the existing Celtic guards already defend well. So Lonzo doesn't really add to the Boston defense, and his real value is something the Celts probably have covered.

Add to the mix that while Lonzo can score, scouts are very leery of his mid range game and no one is convinced he can get off the wrong side 3 ball release in the NBA.

To review Boston has the No. 1 pick and they need a flat out scorer who can, without any doubt, fill it up from all over the court. That person is not Lonzo Ball, it's Markelle Fultz

You already knew Fultz's mid range and 3 shot are as good as anyone since The Logo. What you probably didn't know is that he measured out almost the same height as Zo, but has a bigger wing span and a higher standing reach.

Fultz is phenomenal at creating his own shot, and that's critical as it gives the Celts a counter to Kyrie Irving of the Cavs or the Warriors Stephen Curry. In other words Danny Ainge (Boston's GM), certainly likes Lo, but he needs Fultz.

Which leaves Lo on the board for the team picking No. 2 in the NBA draft on June 22nd. (Is there anybody here who doesn't know who has that pick?) The team we've always suspected Lonzo dreams of playing for.
