Stanford does a remarkably good job of getting initial thrust out of their OLs and then 'snugging' their RBs right behind them. This seems to force defenses to try to get the OL out of the way first before tackling the RB. The trouble is, they are 4-5 yards downfield before anyone even touches the RB.

What gives here? How do you scheme or defend this? To me it looks like our guys were trying to push the OLs around up high at their shoulder pad level, but nobody was doing the right thing by taking out anybody's FEET.
Seems to me like Stanford loves pushing a stack forward while they are all standing in a 'herd' formation.

ASU did this too when they pushed Ballage across the goal line in a herd from 20 yards out. Nobody got low to take out their feet.

We gotta get low. Or at least one of our guys does. Am I missing something?
