Moore doesn’t visit

UCLA was supposed to have a nice little visitor list this weekend, with four-star TE Thaddeus Moss and four-star OL Tramonda Moore visiting. As it turns out, neither came.

We’ve heard Jim Mora is pressing his assistant coaches to not schedule officials during the season this year. The goal, from what we’ve heard, is to get them to come after the season.

Moss said on Twitter he’ll reschedule. From what we’re hearing on Moore, the academic issues we initially reported look like they’re true. From the sounds of things from our sources down in Oklahoma, his grades may actually preclude him from joining any college football team next season, let alone UCLA’s. It does not look like he’ll reschedule his trip.

Flip watch

Theo Howard may not be the only Westlake Village star receiver to join UCLA this month. Per a source close to the situation, there’s strong optimism in Westwood that Michael Pittman will flip to UCLA, and he could do it soon.

We’re hearing that both Pittman’s mom and grandpa are pressing him to flip back from his USC pledge to his old UCLA one. The Bruins’ D-line coach, Angus McClure, has done a great job keeping the four-star in the mix, despite the initial decommitment.

Pittman and Howard play each other this Friday night in probably the best high school football game in California this week.

Jack Jones serious about TAMU

Many thought four-star ATH Jack Jones’ decision would come down to UCLA or USC, but apparently, Texas A&M could be the school to beat.

Per Adam Gorney: “The four-star from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly athlete who recently took his official visit to A&M said he is taking an unofficial next weekend for the Auburn game. He also said he considers the Aggies the frontrunner at this point in his recruitment. Looking very good for Texas A&M right now.”

Friday night lights updates

Several Rivals.com analysts were out at games featuring Rivals.com targets this weekend. Here’s a look at what they dug up:

-Gorney went out to see Mique Juarez on Friday night: “Juarez is definitely going to be patient with the recruiting process now that he has de-committed from USC and is looking at all programs again. One other reason the five-star is going to be deliberate is that so many new programs are getting involved. The Torrance North recruit said Alabama is getting much more interested and could visit the school soon along with Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma State and others. Juarez has not finalized any official visits yet and probably won't take any until after his senior season. He said he plans to commit at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which could put a time crunch on official visits. Ohio State, Ole Miss and Oklahoma were three programs mentioned as strong possibilities for trips when the time comes. There is no question that UCLA and USC remain heavily involved in his recruitment as well. Nebraska seems to be slipping a little bit but Juarez is not counting out the Huskers yet by any means. As for the local schools, Juarez said he has a great relationship with the UCLA coaching staff and especially with linebackers coach Scott White. With USC's coaching search, the five-star said it's not a big factor who the Trojans hire, they will continue to stay under serious consideration and he'll make further decisions once that situation is settled.”

-Blair Angulo was out watching top 2017 QB recruit Ryan Kelley: “Four-star quarterback Ryan Kelley was stellar in a losing effort against Brophy Prep, passing for three touchdowns and running for another. He made quick decisions and got the football out fast, hitting receivers in stride and buying time in the pocket. Arizona State, Oregon and UCLA are considered the frontrunners and the 2017 prospect told Rivals.com he could announce a commitment any day now.”

-Woody Wommack was out at TE commit Jordan Wilson’s game: “Three-star UCLA tight end commit Jordan Wilson missed the game and will not return this season as he recovers from a stress fracture in his foot. According to Wilson, his recovery is going well and he's a few weeks away from beginning rehab. When it comes to recruiting, Louisville continues to chase Wilson, but he said he has no plans to take visits to any other schools. His official visit to UCLA is planned for December.”

Short Shots

-Four-star LB Dontavious Jackson released his top seven this week and UCLA made the cut. He visited the Bruins earlier this season.

-After initially cancelling his official visit earlier this season, four-star DE Amani Bledsoe said he’ll now visit Westwood during December.

-Former UCLA tight end Chris Clark told Rivals.com this week Syracuse “decided to go a different way and not honor my commitment.” He committed to Syracuse just days prior to the news that they wouldn’t accept his commitment.

-UCLA offered Dorsey DL Nahjee Flowers after its game against Colorado Saturday night.
