For me, the season turned out the way I expected. I predicted a 4.5 win season and that’s what i got. Coach Foster has his detractors, people that thought he was not qualified to be HC and I have to admit that I was skeptical as well but at the same time I was pulling for him to be successful. He is a Bruins and was a player when UCLA was at very successful. After six years under CCK, I can finally see a bit of light at end of the tunnel.
He was hired in February and Spring Practice in March he really didn’t have time to properly vent his staff and there were a lot of mismatched pieces. The one thing he did do right was keeping Coach Malloe as DC. Almost as soon as the season ended his gutted entire staff with the exception of Malloe and Neuhiesel and now it remains to be seen if he made the right decision. Frankly, I like the changes…all these guys are young, energetic and hungry. I also like the 2024-25 recruiting class, both HS and TP players. It filled a lot of holes both on offense and defense. Coach Foster also gutted his recruiting staff and hired Butler Benton, Chris Carter and Stacey Ford to help in roster development, recruiting and evaluation. I think they were instrumental in finding the recruits.
Yes, CDF has made some mistakes both on field and off but he’s done a good job in trying to elevate the football program.
I’d like to know your thoughts. Was the season what you expected? Golng forward, what are your thoughts for the upcoming season? Worst or better?
