As many of you know, the young daughter of Brandon Huffman, national recruiting director of Scout, is battling DPIG, an inoperable brain tumor. Jim Mora and UCLA football offered to donate upwards of $10,000 this past summer, and have stayed involved since. A great write-up today from Brandon about how much Shannon Mora's visit to Avery's hospital made her day.
"I got a chance to talk to Shannon Mora, and she spent a good amount of time talking with Avery, taking pictures with her, and making Avery feel like a million bucks. She had been following Avery's fight herself ever since the diagnosis, and with her husband, have been very supportive of our family, as many know. Avery couldn't stop talking about it on the drive home, how much fun she had picking out presents and getting to meet "Mrs. Mora and her elf helpers". As a parent, it was wonderful to see Avery so happy. As a human being, what Count on Me does for families is incredible. I can tell you, what they do is remarkable. Hearing from a couple other families how much this impacted them, you have real life testimonies of what they do. A big thanks to Shannon and Jim Mora, the Count on Me Foundation and to all the folks that helped make Avery's day."
Say what you will about football records, at the end of the day this is really the only game that matters and it's nice to get a small victory. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/averyhuffman/journal/view/id/56610f06a589b4fa249db145
