Two more posters attending UCLA practices in San Bernardino have weighed in. Since we've had some strong concern about DB recruiting voiced recently, these two should be particularly interesting. The thread originates with one practice visitor giving a breakdown of the new freshman:
The secondary is in good hands. The new kids can all play. Holiday appears, at his size, to be able to stick with the smaller quicker guys. Looks to be a shutdown corner in the making. Ditto for Samuel. Massington had a hard time shaking him. Fisher has great ball skills. Lockett is a HITTER. Meadors displayed good coverage on F and Y receivers.
Another person attending the practices offered more on the same subject:
All the pure freshmen had a sticker on the forehead of their helmet stating their name. At one point, the freshmen db's stood opposite an experienced db only a few yards away. There was no drill per se, but the experienced db's were giving advice to the pure freshmen...1 on 1. I thought it was a classy way to build a team bond. By the way, our freshmen db's looked quite good...Colin Samuel, at 6'2", maintained tight coverage...Marcus Rios, who nearly died 2 years ago, is now a very physical db...looks more like a linebacker! All in all, as already stated, the db's are a stout group and broke up many pass plays with their tight coverage.
In addition there was also some very good stuff on Ulu - Perry and the RB's including Soso. Here's a link for the thread below
