It seems like we need to assume that guys will leave the program and join the program in part because of positional depth.
Our WR room looks very good with the 2026 class. We need another tall receiver, but we may use the portal or have one more in the class.
In an ideal world we land on offense:

0-1 tall WR
1-2 RB
On defense we need big bodies in the middle. In an ideal world we add:
2-3DT
1-2 OLB edge
2 CB
2 S/ LB
If we get those players we have a balanced 28 man class with a mix of guys who need to develop and guys who can contribute right away.
I am beginning to look at the portal as a way to replace guys who leave or get injured where their best replacement and/ or their backup may not be ready for a significant role on a good team. We don’t shop for stars, but we get in the mix when it’s a weak position for us.
