Juan, you don’t have to chime in because we already know your thoughts.

For me, I predicted that the Bruins will have 4.5 wins and they right there. I knew they had no chance against Oregon, LSU, Penn State but they hit a buzz saw against Indiana. I was hoping that they would win against Washington and suc. I saw some things that make me very hopeful for next season.

Offense: UCLA lacks talent all round except at WR. They have a star in the making in Gilmer and a strong supporting cast in T M-A, Flores, and Shaw. Our OL is a joke but they seemed to getting better as the season wore on. Huge surprise in Mehe and Niki Prongos. They need to dig deep into the TP next year but perhaps it’s not all bad. Yoon, Carlin and DiGiogio had a mediocre season with flashes of talent and inconsistency. They were getting beat so they were penalized a lot so drives were stalled. I thought that Keegan Jones was going to play a larger role…not. Harden improved but he’s not Charbonnet or Josh Kelley, not even close. Berger was injured a lot and overall the RB room needs an upgrade. Ethan Garber is a very serviceable QB for us this season. Not great, but a good game manager and the WCO is possibly the best offense for him. Next season will be interesting to find a replacement.

Defense: Very, very surprised with Carson Schwesinger…our next Butkus award winner. Medrano and Oledejo had incredible season and were the cornerstones of our defense. I thought going into the season that that our defense would be terrible with the loss of Latu, Carl Jones and the Murphy brothers, C B-S and our starting CBs. But, they turned in a strong performance. Special mention to Toia, he is beast and led the DL charge.

Special teams; great performance by Mateen Bhoghhani! He’s going to be our next Groza award winner and take his place among John Lee, Chris Sailor, Kaiami Fairbairn.

Coaching: Kudos to Malloe. I thought that when our DC left to join our enemies I thought there would be a dropoff but he stepping in that role and perhaps did better. Our offense is another story…I’m not a fan of the WCO style of offense. I prefer a high scoring, fast paced Chip Kelly offense but that’s just me. I think that this season was a huge learning curve to our HC and he did some good things and some not so great things. He is going to stumble but I like his energy and his commitment to bring back some of the UCLA traditions.

Im hoping that you would share your thoughts. Was it what you thought it was going to be and are you optimistic going forward. Why?
