Last night, I was covering the St. Bernard boys basketball game in Playa del Rey. They have a good freshman with UCLA ties on that team.

Tajh Ariza, the son of former Bruin Trevor Ariza, shined in moments and finished with eight points. He showed an ability to get to the free-throw line and knock down the 3.

He’s a 2026 kid on a team with a senior point guard and pair of juniors who carry the bulk of the load, so he’s not asked to do too much just yet. But Ariza already has good size at 6-6 and his HS coach Tony Bland (yes, that Tony Bland) likes his potential. He already picked up Pac-12 offers from USC and Washington last month, his first Division I offers.

Also on Ariza’s team is sophomore Joshua Palmer, the son of UCLA assistant Rod Palmer who was in the gym last night to watch his son’s team.

CB Rodrick Pleasant is scheduled to announce at 10:30 PST today. His final list is BC, Kal, $UC, Ducks, and Bruins. The tea leaves are reading Ducks, but we sure could use a high quality CB.

I read on Twitter Bronny James’ top 3 choices to play are Ohio State, Oregon and Sc.
He’s a 4- star guard who will probably pick Sc so his dad can watch him play.
Bruin fans on Twitter were mixed in their reactions but most think he isn’t the One-and Done talent his dad thinks he is and he would unlikely get a lot of playing time as a freshman under Cronin.

Joshua Glanz, a three-star offensive tackle at Eastlake HS, will be on campus Saturday.

Catching up on an offer made public last night by safety Faletau Satuala, who went from Orem HS to Bountiful HS in the state of Utah.

According to the school’s athletic director, Chip Kelly was in Utah recently to personally meet with him.

UCLA is prepared to see a deeper USC team with the addition of 7-foot-1 reserve center Vincent Iwuchukwu, who has appeared in four games since recovering from cardiac arrest suffered during an offseason workout.

Bruins add another key receiver transfer tonight. Kyle Ford is headed across town to play at UCLA.
